Dave A. Alexander Jr., MD

Dave A. Alexander Jr., MDDr. Alexander is a 1976 graduate of the Vanderbilt Medical School. After completing a two year residency in general surgery under H. William Scott, M.D., he finished a four year residency in orthopaedics and rehabilitation at Vanderbilt Medical Center under the direction of Paul P. Griffin, M.D. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and in 1994 received an American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Alexander specializes in sports medicine and surgery of the hand and has presented a number of lectures at various orthopaedic association meetings. Dr. Alexander is a member of the medical staff at Baptist Hospital.

A Nashvillian since birth, Dr. Alexander attended Montgomery Bell Academy where he played on the 1967 and 1968 state champion football teams. He completed his undergraduate studies in three years at Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Latin and a double minor in biology and chemistry.

Dr. Alexander and his wife have two children. During the fall, he serves as the team doctor for his alma mater, MBA. Additionally, he serves in the leadership of TOA on the Board, as its current President.
