Brian E. Koch, MD
Dr. Brian Koch (pronounced “Cook”) joined TOA in August 2004 following the completion of a one year sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute with the world renowned Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Koch is a shoulder and knee specialist with special interests in sports medicine, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, total joint replacement, fracture care, and workman’s compensation injuries.
His education began at The Ohio State University where he graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Biology in 1994. He then also completed medical school at The Ohio State University graduating cum laude, 7th in a class of 210, and earned membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. His residency in orthopaedic surgery was completed at The University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison, WI in 2003.
Dr. Koch is the team physician for Gallatin, Station Camp, Beech, and Hendersonville high schools as well as for the Volunteer State Community College athletic programs. He also serves as a consultant to the athletic trainers at several other Sumner County high schools, as well as schools in the adjacent northern middle TN counties. He played varsity baseball at the collegiate level and has a special understanding and interest in the care of the athlete. He is on active staff at Hendersonville Medical Center and is the current Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.
In his free time, Dr. Koch enjoys spending time with his wife Annie and 3 children. He is also active in his church and loves to play golf and enjoy recreation on the lake.
